Raising North Texas Rainfall Forecast

State radar image from 4:30 p.m. Thursday.                          Friday NWS Rainfall forecast.
     (College of DuPage).

A large storm system is dropping intense, flooding rainfall on parts of South and Central Texas.  The swirling storm energy is moving slowly east on a track toward Waco/Temple by Friday afternoon, slightly north of it’s forecast track yesterday.
In the process, it will drop more severe weather on the southern half of the state and produce significant rains here in North Texas starting late tonight, ending late tomorrow night.  During the 24-hour event of scattered, repeated showers and thunderstorms, DFW could pick up another 1″ of rain by Saturday.  We still expect the storm system to keep on moving east and be out of the area by Mother’s Day.

Keep checking back with WBAP Weather and the 24/7 Newsroom for updates on this approaching storm event.

Big rains South Texas; little rains North Texas

Strong upper-level storm system will spread rain and thunderstorms across the southern two thirds of the state in the next 36 hours.
North Texas will get less rain, probably less than one inch.  |
Rain here should start any time after midnight Friday and end by midnight Saturday.
No severe weather is expected here although parts of South and Central Texas are already under a flood watch for expected multi-inch rains.
